6C radio galaxies at /z~1: the influence of radio power on the alignment effect
Powerful radio galaxies often display enhanced optical/UV continuumemission and extended emission line regions, elongated and aligned withthe radio jet axis. The expansion of the radio source strongly affectsthe gas clouds in the surrounding IGM, and the kinematic and ionizationproperties of the extended emission line regions display considerablevariation over the lifetime of individual sources, as well as withcosmic epoch. We present the results of deep rest-frame UV and opticalimaging and UV spectroscopy of high redshift 6C radio galaxies. Theinterdependence of the host galaxy and radio source properties arediscussed, considering: (i) the relative contribution of shocksassociated with the expanding radio source to the observed emission linegas kinematics, and their effect on the ionization state of the gas;(ii) the similarities and differences between the morphologies of thehost galaxies and aligned emission for a range of radio source powers;and (iii) the influence of radio power on the strength of the observedalignment effect.

An image database. II. Catalogue between δ=-30deg and δ=70deg.
A preliminary list of 68.040 galaxies was built from extraction of35.841 digitized images of the Palomar Sky Survey (Paper I). For eachgalaxy, the basic parameters are obtained: coordinates, diameter, axisratio, total magnitude, position angle. On this preliminary list, weapply severe selection rules to get a catalog of 28.000 galaxies, wellidentified and well documented. For each parameter, a comparison is madewith standard measurements. The accuracy of the raw photometricparameters is quite good despite of the simplicity of the method.Without any local correction, the standard error on the total magnitudeis about 0.5 magnitude up to a total magnitude of B_T_=17. Significantsecondary effects are detected concerning the magnitudes: distance toplate center effect and air-mass effect.

KISO survey for ultraviolet-excess galaxies. V.
Presented here are the fifth list and identification charts of theultraviolet-excess galaxies which have been detected on the multi-colorplates taken with the Kiso Schmidt telescope for 10 survey fields. Inthe sky area of some 300 square degrees 628 objects are catalogued downto the photographic magnitude of about 17.5.
